One Mans Opinion - Sept. 12, 2010

Well, to preface this article, I must look to a story from the recent past.

After defeating their rivals in Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah movement, Muslim extremists are focusing their attacks on Christians in Gaza City. Christians in Gaza City have issued an appeal to the international community and a plea for protection against the increased attacks by Muslim extremists.
Father Manuel Musallem, head of Gaza's Latin church, told the AP that Muslims have ransacked, burned and looted a school and convent that are part of the Gaza Strip's small Romany Catholic community. He told the AP that crosses were broken, damage was done to a statue of Jesus, and at the Rosary Sister School and nearby convent, prayer books were burned.
Gunmen used the roof of the school during the fighting, and the convent was "desecrated," Mussalem told the AP.
Father Musalam additionally told The Jerusalem Post that the Muslim gunmen used rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs) to blow through the doors of the church and school, before burning Bibles and destroying every cross they could get their hands on.
Catholic Online reports that the heads of Christian churches in the Holy Land have urged both sides to put aside their weapons, noting that the infighting diverted international attention from the national goal of Palestinian independence.

So, it's okay for the Muslims to burn the Bible, but how dare anyone burn the Quran? Isn't that being a bit hypocritical?
According to Fox News on 9/11, the Rev. Terry Jones said the book-burning "is not going to happen."
I agree that it shouldn't happen, and should never have been brought up. But I also think that the hypocritical Muslims have much to answer for. I know that the Muslims consider The Quran the sacred word of God and insist it be treated with the utmost respect, but shouldn't the same respect be given to all religions and their holy books?
The Muslims sure do like to destroy churches, synagogues and temples, but don't mess with their mosques! They can burn Bibles, but don't burn their Quran! What a hypocritical bunch they are!
Yesterday being the 9th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on America, the Muslims were very vocal in their distaste for the planned Quran burning. Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh, speaking in the Gaza Strip, said to a crowd of tens of thousands of Muslim faithful that they had come "to respond to this criminal (Rev. Terry Jones), this liar, this crazy priest who reflects a crazy Western attitude toward Islam and the Muslim nation. We came to say, the Quran is our constitution, we are committed to God and his holy book," he said to those holding the texts in their hands at a stadium in the northern town of Beit Lahiya. "God willing, should they try to carry out their crime against the Koran, God will tear their state apart and they will become God's lesson to anyone who tries to desecrate the holy book."
Did Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh just happen to forget what they (Hamas) did to the Catholic church and the Bible just three years ago? How convenient... And how hypocritical!
Many [but not all] of the followers of Islam are all about hypocrisy and threats? After all, isn't that what the so-called 'religion of peace' does? Threaten and attack; behead and burn; kill and maim innocent people in the name of their god? What a peaceful religion... Yeah right!
Islam may be a religion, but nothing about it is peaceful. It spreads fear in its wake. And I, for one, think the hypocritical religion is a cult! And those that act in violence to spread it are demons from hell! The first part of the Quran actually is a book of peace, but the latter portion is when Mohammad lost his peaceful ways and begins preaching hatred and fear; to force people to convert to Islam or die! And that doesn't sound like something worth defending to me. It sounds like something that should be condemned. Any religion that subjugates women, treating them as one would treat an animal, isn't much of a religion to me.
Any religion that has to resort to bombings, stonings, or any kind of violence toward other religions (and to many within it's own religion) is nothing more than a cult! And that makes them like the Moonies to me... Or the Branch Davidians, or Scientology. Not true religions like Judaism, Christianity, Buddhism or Hinduism.
Their version of Islam could be considered the acts of savages straight out of 4 B.C.
If Islam is a religion of peace, then they should begin practicing what they preach. The good Muslims that practice the peaceful brand of Islam, and do not wish their religion perverted, should rise up and say, "Enough! No More!" They should be vocal in their condemnation of this continuing cycle of violence against anyone that doesn't go along with the radical version of Islam. But until they do, their religion will be nothing more than a cult to me.
Prove to me that Islam is a religion of peace. Until then, I'll continue to condemn it as a cult of hate and violence!
But that's just my opinion, I could be right!
