One Mans Opinion - 9/15/2010
By Dewaine Shoulders
Well, another Primary Night has come and gone; and the Tea Party/Sarah Palin-backed candidates did pretty well once again. Not all of them won, mind you, but a couple of key races marked the beginning of many threats to the status quo in Washington D.C.
This year will mark the return of the Constitution! When politicians actually pay attention to what our Founding Fathers envisioned, and what the majority of voters want - instead of what the lawyers, politicians and special-interest lobbyists want.
The Tea Party is bringing much needed change to the Republican Party. The DNC has yet to find voters willing to toss out the Progressives within their party. But on the Republican side, the Progressives - the so-called Moderate Republicans - are in fear for their political lives. Their allegiance to the Progressive Movement will have them standing in an unemployment line soon (hopefully).
Primary results to note:
NY Gov. Race -
Carl Paladino wins. It seems Rick Lazio was kicked to the curb. Paladino, the actual Conservative in the race, handily defeated the RINO!
NY U.S. House - 15th District - Democrat
Charles Rangel wins with 51% of the vote. I had to throw this one in because of who it was. New Yorkers will continue to vote this crook into office even after he's dead or in prison. That tells you a great deal about their loyalty/mentality.
Now onto the big ones -
NH - Senate - GOP
Kelly Ayotte defeated Ovide Lamontagne with a 1.5% advantage. No word as of this writing if Lamontagne will call for a recount. Ayotte, backed by Sarah Palin, will face Democrat Paul Hodes in November.
Delaware Senate Race -
Christine O'Donnell defeated Michael Castle. O'Donnell not only beat the RINO Castle, but got the blessings of Michael Steele and the RNC today! Will Castle also endorse O'Donnell? Hmm? Not likely.
So, here's how I see it:
Sarah Palin and the Tea Party are trying to bring change to the political landscape in Washington D.C. There are many voters in both the Democrat and Republican Parties who are tired of the Hope and Change that Obama and his minions have brought to this country. I have heard too many people that voted for Obama now questioning their votes; saying things like, "I wish I had done more research into Obama." or "I wish I had listened to my Conservative friends."
Buyers remorse is always a terrible thing.
In fact, I was talking to one Democrat in particular just the other day. She asked me if the Tea Party would allow her to come and join them? I said, "Yes they will! If you are truly wanting to save this country from socialism and wish to restore our core beliefs in the Constitution being the Law of the Land, then the Tea Party would welcome you. She, like so many people, has had an epiphany. We all have had our eyes opened to what the politicians have been doing to this country for far too many years... Spending us into bankruptcy and over-regulating our lives. And now, standing at the abyss, they (the Progressives) wish to shoves us all over the edge with more spending and higher taxes.
With the candidates that the Tea Party and Sarah Palin have backed so far, it could also open the door for Sarah Palin to be the actual front-runner in the 2012 race even before she announced her intentions to run (if she indeed does). Clearly not all Tea Party folks are favorable to Sarah Palin... At the moment, at least. But if she does run, I think most will back her in the primaries and the general election.
Considering who we have in office now, it will be just like Ronald Reagan when he defeated Jimmy Carter 30 years ago. Sarah Palin may very well be this generations Ronald Reagan. And the Republican Party needs someone like Sarah Palin to energize it. And Sarah Palin could lead this country out of the mess this administration has gotten us into!
But that's just my opinion, I could be right!
